| Welcome to the City of Alexandria Animal Shelter Website! Here you can find the latest information on the animals we have available at our facility, as well as information on adoptions, animal redemptions, city ordinances, & general pet care. Our rates for pet adoptions are as follows : Male Dog: $90 Female Dog: $95 Male Cat: $75 Female Cat: $85 All adoption fees include the first set of shots, and the animals’ spaying/neutering. Adoption, Kennel Viewing, and Animal Redemption Hours are: Monday, Wednesday & Friday 8:00 AM-2:30 PM Tuesday & Thursday 11:30 AM-2:30 PM Animal Drop-offs: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM Only Animals being surrendered by residents of the City of Alexandria and Rapides Parish can be accepted. Proof, such as driver's license and current utility bill is required. If you live in Rapides Parish, but reside within the City Limits of other towns (Town of Ball, Woodworth, Boyce, etc.), you cannot surrender or drop-off any live animal with the Alexandria Shelter. Please contact your town shelter or rescue shelter. For animals impounded, redemption can only be made by owners. Proof of ownership such as pictures with pet, registration, vaccine records, or other documents may be required by the shelter in addition to proper identification. No proof, No redemption!
